Shadow is a 1-year-old bundle of energy wrapped in a sleek black coat. He's the kind of cat who makes you laugh out loud multiple times a day — whether he's doing acrobatic leaps to catch a feather toy, sliding across the hardwood floor chasing a hair tie, or perching on the highest shelf in the room to survey his kingdom.
Despite his playful nature, Shadow is also incredibly affectionate. He follows his people from room to room, curious about everything they're doing. He'll sit next to you while you work, bat at your pen, and then curl up in your lap when he finally runs out of steam. He gets along beautifully with other cats and would love a feline sibling to wrestle and play with.
Shadow's ideal home has plenty of vertical space — cat trees, shelves, or window perches. He'd love an active household that can provide interactive playtime and enrichment. He'd be a fantastic addition to a home with another young, playful cat.
Shadow was rescued in February 2026 from a hoarding situation in rural Waseca County where over 30 cats were living in a single-bedroom home. Despite the overcrowded conditions, Shadow came out remarkably well-adjusted — friendly, social, and curious about the world. Credit goes to the volunteer team who spent weeks carefully socializing each cat from that rescue.
He was one of the younger cats in the group and seemed to bounce back the fastest. Within days of arriving in foster care, he was playing, eating well, and seeking out human attention. His resilience is truly remarkable, and he seems to carry no baggage from his rough start.

"Shadow plays fetch. I'm not kidding. Throw a hair tie across the room and he'll bring it back and drop it at your feet. I've never had a cat do this before and it cracks me up every single time."
"He sits on the windowsill and chirps at birds for hours. Not meowing — actual chirping sounds, like he's trying to have a conversation with them. It's the funniest thing."
"For a cat who came from a hoarding situation, he's shockingly well-adjusted. He loves people, loves other cats, and has zero behavioral issues. Whoever adopts him is getting the deal of a lifetime."
